Science journalists based in a European country that’s not represented in the EFSJ via a national association, can become associate members on an individual basis. The annual fee is 5 euro.
Every application will be reviewed by the Board of the EFSJ. The conditions for approval are:
1) The applicant is based in a European country (the whole continent of Europe, including Russia, Turkey and Cyprus)
2) The applicant is not a member of an EFSJ Member Association (currently VWN, SWIM, AKSON, AJSPI, WPK, ABSW and SASJ)
3) The applicant is currently active as a science journalist
Applicants should send a CV and at least three examples of published work to the EFSJ Board, via secretary@efsj.eu. They should also clearly mention their name, country of residence and media affiliation.
The membership fee of 5 euro has to be paid via bank transfer (for details see below).
If the application is approved by the Board and after the payment has been done, the applicant shall receive an e-mail with a letter (pdf) that serves as a receipt and a proof of membership for the year in question.
Associate members will be contacted individually in January to renew their membership.
