The European Journalism Center invites applications from European journalists specialised in health and health policy to attend the Conference on “50 years of EU Pharma legislation: Achievements and Future Perspectives”, organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) and the European Journalism Centre, The event will be held on 28-29 September 2015 in Brussels.
The deadline for applications is July 15th.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of pharmaceutical legislation in the EU. European pharmaceutical legislation is responsible for one of the safest and most advanced systems for monitoring the safety, quality and efficacy of medicines while at the same time supporting and promoting research and innovation.
This event is an exclusive opportunity to reflect on the remarkable progress pharmaceutical legislation has made in just 50 years and to consider the future of this industry as it continues to evolve.
Journalists covering health issues from the EU 28 are invited to apply.
The two-day programme will consist of a high-level conference on Monday 28, followed by a media seminar on Tuesday 29.
The attending journalists will participate in an exclusive press breakfast with EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis, on Tuesday 29 September.
Additionally, the programme will feature, among others:
• a keynote speech by Commissioner Andriukaitis;
• panel discussions on the appropriate level of risk regulations and the vital relationship between regulators and industry;
• a presentation of science slam scientific projects;
• interview oportunities with a wide range of key stakeholders in the Pharma industry, including with Thalidomide victims.This programme is the first of a series of three seminars co-hosted by DG SANTE and the EJC. The other two briefings: “Lessons Learned from the Ebola Crisis”; and “Antimicrobial resistance”, will be announced shortly.
